Earlier this week, ABC KABC-TV in Los Angeles, CA, aired this news story featuring a Lending Club borrower who took a personal loan to pay off her credit card debt and saved money in the process. They also interviewed one of our investors who has built a diversified portfolio, lending no more than $100 at a time, across more than 200 loans.
Ric Romero, a consumer specialist and reporter for ABC started the segment with: "If you're looking to borrow money to pay off bills or buy a new vehicle, you don't have to apply for a loan at a bank or credit union. Very cool stories. I've been dieing to get in on Lending Club but
didn't realize that I could use a Roth IRA. That's fantastic.
Yes, I realized that too. By borrowing money from friends or
colleagues, I can save a lot.
Borrowing from friends for small money amounts can be a good deal
but be sure they value more your friendship than their cash...
