Lending Club Photo Contest

Lending Club is changing the face of bank lending, now we're also changing our web site background images.

To celebrate our new web site, we’re hosting the first ever Lending Club Photo Contest.  We invite all professional and amateur photographers (as well as anybody who knows a good picture when they see one) to submit one or multiple entries (maximum of 4) for a chance to win $1,000.

Have a picture to win it all?
Send us a picture to be used on Lending Club’s web site any time before midnight (Pacific Time) on May 31, 2010.   On June 5th, the Lending Club team will announce the 10 finalist photographs and will post them on our Facebook fan page for a public vote.  The photographs with the most votes by June 30, 2010 wins the contest.

Prizes
Winner: $1,000
2nd place: $500
3rd place: $300
Honorary mentions (up to 3): $100

How to enter?

Qualifying pictures/licenses
We're looking for breathtaking photographs that somehow (this is where your artistic awesomeness comes in) showcases Lending Club values: trustworthy, transparent, professional yet friendly and accessible.

    Here's my submission: http://gallery.me.com/scottneubauer#100136/P1030755&bgcolor=black

I think this picture fits lending club because to me it conveys freedom and relaxation and that's exactly what lending club provides, freedom from the big banks and their lousy practices!

I believe that this photo as well as my next entry would be perfect for your background, they bring peace, serenity and comfort.

  7. Elle:

Heya. My name is Elle, I’m a photographer out of Colorado Springs, Colorado. This is my first contest entry, ever, and I’m interested in doing s’more.

This photo I have decided to enter, is a photo of a dog that I stalked for quite some time. He kept leaping into a nearby stream, and so I knew, eventually, he would decide to get out and shake himself.
I snapped one shot, and received one of my favorite photos.

    Thank you!
    Hope you like it!

  9. Lauren Wise:

HI! My name is lauren and i think you should pick my photo for your new background. This picture is of Phipps conservatory in Pittsburgh and i think it is magnificent. seeing all the beautiful flowers is beautiful and inviting! it’ll lift anyone's spirits. These flowers were made by the hard work of other people and it shows. I believe your company is very hardworking and wouldn’t you want that to show. YOu want a picture that invites new people into your company and shows the old ones that they should stay with you company. Not like the one you have now! it’s dark and cold and you want a photograph thats cheerful! A picture is worth 1,000 words and if you choose mine IM positive it will represent your company in such a way that there isn’t even a word to describe it. Show off the beauty of our country. So please pick my photo to be the background of your magnificent company’s homepage. : D

There's something about an honest man doing an honest days work that inspires trust and does it in a way that doesn't seem faked. It also inspires the idea of being professional and not afraid to work hard, yet doesn't make the business or person hard to approach for help.

Where you're prompted for your email, enter: LC@x.com
    http://www.drivehq.com/sharing/ShareLogon.aspx?password=6025227/8571753093ic

There's actually 2 pictures. I feel both of them meet your criteria.

I think the first one (the historic "Shot Tower" in Melbourne, Australia) is the more artistic, and if I had to choose just one this would be it. But the second (the lighthouse at the harbor entrance of St. John's, Newfoundland) is also a "classic" kind of shot for this purpose.

    Thank you.

  69. Matthew Stevans:

Since much of the text on lendingclub.com takes up the center of each page I selected beautiful photos that have exceptionally beautiful edges:

With this first one you immediately know it was taken from a cruise ship with the romantic colorful sky at the top of the page and the peaceful and intimate ship balcony on the right edge over looking the serene ocean to the left.
    http://s3.amazonaws.com/data.tumblr.com/tumblr_kx3b3d61FQ1qb0ixmo1_1280.jpg?AWSAccessKeyId=0RYTHV9YYQ4W5Q3HQMG2&Expires=1272266970&Signature=7oYF3v%2BiXt9H1zahQ4zlJInyDCw%3D
The photo above would be great on lendingclub.com because it gives a glimpse to both lenders and borrows to the lifestyle that awaits after they achieve financial freedom.

This second photo of a tug boat in a harbor displays a tranquil ocean shimmering beneath the bright sun. With the ship stretching the length of the page the setting will be clear even with the text boxes covering the bulk of the photo.
    http://s3.amazonaws.com/data.tumblr.com/tumblr_kx54wzZeDw1qb0ixmo1_1280.jpg?AWSAccessKeyId=0RYTHV9YYQ4W5Q3HQMG2&Expires=1272267590&Signature=LjW1odhcoKjeTddex10DmzCuzkc%3D
This photo fits lendingclub.com because shows one view familiar to a world traveler as many cruises start at the side of a tug boat and many of the most beautiful destinations in the world are bustling sea ports. Just like the first photo this hints at an fantastical yet obtainable lifestyle for lendingclub.com's clients.

This one just straight up looks cool. It's a photo of a small child's play house with an awesome lighting effect.

Happiness can be accessible to all, and Lending Club can provide it for everyone!

  72. Rachel Broadbent:

This first entry illustrates the transparency and friendly nature of Lending Club with a photo of the two sides of a door focused on the door knobs. One can see what’s on either side of the door and is invited inside by the welcoming way the door has been left ajar.

The second entry is a view of the sunset through a chain-link fence. It shows the accessibility of Lending Club and their trustworthiness with this no-fluff, straight-forward and beautiful sunset scene.

Here's the link to both: http://yaggiwaggi.wordpress.com/lending-club-photo-contest/

I took this picture at a angle that it made the boy look like a giant.

  74. Jennifer E:

This first entry depicts the beauty of life and nature. A lot of people don't get to experience this because they are too worked up with everyday life trying to pay off bills. With the lending club you see the flowers everyday.
    http://picasaweb.google.com/109930508282492873599/LendingAHand?authkey=Gv1sRgCPGH6J7L0qKsAw#5464592350062642018

My second entry depicts a desolate area where one can enjoy meditation and quality time with self or another. Again enjoying nature at its finest.
    http://picasaweb.google.com/109930508282492873599/LendingAHand?authkey=Gv1sRgCPGH6J7L0qKsAw#5464592363503690354

Entry#3 - Beauty of being free. Peace of mind.

Entry#4 Shows the power struggle of money. The building is strong and tall but there is always a fog, or shall I say unforseen at the top. Working with Lending Club helps remove the fog so you can see and breathe!

The Ga Da Lat train station in Da Lat is the oldest train station in Vietnam. This makes it trustworthy. It is also in the middle of a town both popular with tourists and locals and is open to the public for journeys, which makes it accessible and transparent. The people who work there are incredibly friendly, yet complete professional. It is, after all, a train station.

    http://www.flickr.com/photos/greggoodman/4621016462/

  109. Greg Goodman:

Halong Bay, Vietnam, is one of the most picturesque spots on earth and a popular stop for all those who visit the country. This fits the transparent and accessible requirements. It doesn't get more trustworthy than mountains and crags, as you know they will always be there. And the people who work there are all completely professional and yet work in the tourism trade, so they are very friendly as well.

The kayaks in the center of the shot also display accessibility.

    http://www.flickr.com/photos/greggoodman/4621016122/

  110. Greg Goodman:

Sigiriya (Lion's rock) is an ancient rock fortress and palace ruin situated in the central Matale District of Sri Lanka, surrounded by the remains of an extensive network of gardens, reservoirs, and other structures. Despite being situated on a large rock, Sigiriya has countless paths to the top making it accessible. It's viable from miles away, hence transparent. It's been the same for hundreds of years, which makes it trustworthy. Lastly, as it is a popular tourist destination, the people who work there are professional and friendly.

When I saw that other people were entering handfuls of pics I revisited my stash of artistic shots and added to my original 2 (from an earlier post above), bringing the total up to 7.

I still think the "Melbourne -- Central Mall, historic Shot Tower ..." best meets your criteria. The dome shows both trustworthiness and transparency, and the tower shows a professional stoutness as well as a figure of growth (of earnings).

And the lighthouse scene ("St. John's ...") is also a "classic" for this type of purpose, covering all your criteria.

But all the photos can be said to meet some/most of your criteria, and I hope you find one of them worthy.

    Thanks.

A crop of my image from Big Koniuji Island in Alaska would be perfect, it represents the openness and friendliness as well as the dawning of a new era in lending.

This image represents to me all the values of the Lending Club. It is not a beautiful picture of a place, but to me, this represents one of the most trustworthy creatures I've met. His eyes were so "transparent" that you could see the purity of his soul without effort. He was also "professional" and definitely friendly and accessible :o )
