New Year’s resolutions are often broken quickly after they are made. We resolve to change, but are often unable to do so. As a new poll suggests, the top financial goal of 2008 is one that Lending Club can help you to achieve.

The data was reported in the January issue of Money magazine [page 18, “Top Goals for 2008]. 90% of those surveyed gave themselves at least a 50% chance of accomplishing their top financial goal for the year. 1 in 3 believes they’ll definitely achieve their top financial objective. The telling statistic from the poll is that more than half of the respondents think they may not have the money they need to make their financial goal a reality.

What were the top financial goals reported?

    • 33% resolve to pay down debt
    • 23% resolve to save for retirement
    • 11% resolve to build an emergency fund
    • 11% resolve to buy real estate

In order to help meet the most resolved goal reported, paying down debt, Lending Club might be able to help. Consolidating debt with a P2P loan from Lending Club is an excellent way to help pay it down. By paying off your high interest rate debt with a more affordable P2P loan, you will be spending less money on finance charges each month while enjoying the benefit of predictable monthly installments. Less interest means more of your payment is going towards the principal, which will allow your debt to be paid off more quickly.

Making financial resolutions is great, but making them a reality is what really matters. To make that happen, you need to make use of all resources and opportunities available to you. Tools like P2P loans from Lending Club allow many people to achieve their goals and may be just what you need to make this year’s resolution a reality.
